OUR UNIQUE CONCEPT

A Food Yard, Not Just a Food Truck

Not a restaurant. Not a food truck. Something the United States has never had before.

Desi Food Yard is the first South Asian–inspired food yard in the USA — an open-air, family-built reimagining of the late-night food streets of Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Guntur, set on a piece of land off FM1385 in Pilot Point, Texas.

We didn't open another Indian restaurant. There are plenty of those in DFW. We built something that didn't exist here: a place where the kitchen runs until 1 AM, kids have a play area and a movie screen, families share picnic tables under string lights, and the food on every plate tastes like home.

The first South Asian food yard in the United States

Walk into any Indian restaurant in DFW and you'll find the same setup: four walls, dim lighting, white tablecloths, a buffet line, doors closed by 10 PM.

Desi Food Yard is built differently — on purpose.

We took everything we missed about the food streets of Andhra and Telangana — the wayside Dosa carts, the late-night biryani stalls, the chaat counters outside movie theaters, the families sharing picnic tables until midnight — and brought it to Pilot Point, Texas. Not as a restaurant. As a food yard.

Here's what makes it different

🏞️ It's a yard, not a restaurant. Open-air patio, picnic-style seating, string lights overhead, plenty of free parking, no formal dress code, no reservations needed for small groups. Come in flip-flops. Bring the kids. Stay for three hours. Nobody will rush you.

🔥 Live cooking, in front of you. Dosa's folded on the tavva as you watch. Tandoori chicken off the live coal. Idli steamed and vada fried to order. Nothing sitting in a warmer. Every plate cooked fresh when you order it.

🌙 The kitchen runs until 1 AM, seven nights a week. Most Indian restaurants in DFW shut down by 10. Desi Food Yard stays open with the full menu until 1 AM, every single night — for the IT workers on West Coast hours, the post-event hunger after weddings, the late-night biryani craving, and everyone who's ever stood at a gas station at 11 PM wishing for real food.

👨‍👩‍👧 Built for families and groups. A dedicated kids' play area. A movie screen showing cartoons. Space for birthday parties, baby showers, get-togethers of 30 or more. Parents can actually relax. Kids stay busy. Everyone leaves happy.

🌶️ Authentic Andhra & Telangana at the core. We don't try to be everything. Our specialty is the bold, garlicky, chili-forward cooking of South India — Gongura chicken, Telangana mutton, Konaseema kodi, Karampodi gobi, Pappuchru annam. The dishes most "Indian restaurants" don't bother with. The ones that taste like home.

"This place is a hidden gem. Countryside vibe, ample parking, kid-friendly setup. A must-visit for anyone craving Indian cuisine in a unique, open-air setting."— Srinivas P. on Yelp
